Temperatures have gone to over 25°C very quickly which means using the irrigation system again.
The greens renovation program was completed. By May the ge greens will improve in quality owith better roll and speed. The monthly agronomy program for the greens will include needle-tining once per month and a light top-dressing. Both practices will not affect the roll of the ball or your game of golf.
The tees were over-seeded, and the results are evident. Top-dressing will be done twice during the season.
Top-dressing and seeding of fairways will certainly improve the density and texture of the grass.
As usual the deep rough has kicked in at this time of the year and the GCM staff will try to stay on top of this with priority on the crucial landing areas.
I am sure all of you, our golfers, will appreciate the importance of the agronomy programme in bringing you the best possible conditions and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
Please bear in mind we have new staff members once again and training is in place to understand the game and proper etiquette when they see golfers.
Please feel free to contact me for any agronomy matter topics, suggestions and ideas.
